Podcast: BlackRock Does Not Own The World

There’s a viral video that we’ve been sent a couple of times in the past months by Sorelle Amore that makes the claim BlackRock “owns the world.” We wanted to talk about the fact that this claim is untrue and potentially dangerous.

We talk about some of the familiar tropes the video references, including the Zionist International conspiracy theory, other antisemitic conspiracy theories, and explain why a company like BlackRock doesn’t “own” all of the companies in the world, the finance sector, and doesn’t even have a controlling stake in the companies its passive index funds invest in.

This is a mostly comedic video with a heavy dose of satire. We take a look at some of the commentary this viral video has sparked through a comedic lens.

We had a lot of fun making this video and hopefully it makes for a fun watch/listen.

We have some more podcast episodes recorded already and the next couple of episodes will be more serious topical ones covering Crypto, recessions, and more on inflation.
