Are We In A Recession?

Are we in a recession? If not now, when? These are questions we’ve been asked a lot lately in conversations with clients, small businesses, and colleagues. We try to answer these in the most accurate way we can at the present moment. As things stand, as Lillian points out in the episode, the United States has a group of economists that declares official Recessions, and we have not had that happen yet. That means the discussion is speculative by nature.

We also talk about the well known “K Shaped Recovery” and the distortions in reckoning the financial wellness of an economy that has become increasingly unequal that stem from inequality itself; stagflation- what it is and why it actually matters to you; and what investors should and should not do in their responses to this economic moment.

This is the first podcast episode with Lillian Karabaic, who has joined the Chaim Investment Advisors team recently. Lillian is a well known, well established podcaster in her own right as the host of Oh My Dollar!

We’ve been doing a lot of Macro driven podcasts lately (the current episode, “Earnings Recession,” and inflation, among others). The next podcast is going to be a more product and investment driven conversation, which will be a fun conversation about some of the good developments happening at this moment in the world of finance and investing.
